About Me
I’ve always loved the world of children’s stories.
When I was small, my Granny Jane wrote and published a beautiful collection of tales she created for me and her other grandchildren — stories about a little bird called Longbeak and his many adventures.
It was the beginning of a lifelong love of words and reading.
So it’s probably no surprise that in my career as a copywriter and brand tone‑of‑voice specialist, I ended up writing to children on behalf of their sponsored Irish Guide Dog pups and Dogs Trust rescue dogs — even winning awards for my entertaining pup‑dates about their many adventures.
Writing my own children’s picture book was always a dream.
One that I’ve begun to take more seriously since becoming a mum myself.
My Inspiration
Step into our house and you’re stepping into a world of Tyrannosaurus Drips, Hairy Maclarys, and Invisible Strings. We live in the land of picture books.
My eldest has just started school and is beginning to learn how to read.
Every Tuesday is Talking Tuesday, when his teacher sends home a topic to chat about and a poem for us to read together.
We look forward to it every week. Both my boys love the rhymes — especially the funny ones!
Before I knew it, I started making up my own too — little poems about our daily lives, the woodland characters I meet on walks, and the things that are special to us.
I’m delighted to share some of them here with you, and I hope you enjoy reading them with your own children.
I’m also very excited that, hopefully one day soon, I’ll be ready to share my first picture book with you. Watch this space. :)
